Darienne Slocum
Darienne Slocum, a 2016 Portville Central School graduate and recipient of the John J. Murphy Family Scholarship and Dr. Donald A. Wormer Family Scholarship, has been hard at work managing her marketing and double biology and psychology minors.
But in her three years at St. John Fisher College, she has also been busy growing some good of her own.
As part of the college’s First Generation Scholars program, Slocum has been actively involved in volunteer service in the Rochester area. She has volunteered to help pilot programs to mentor inner-city school children, mentored in a high school leadership program, assisted in pre-school classrooms, and even took on the role of choir director for children in 5th through 8th grade at Nativity Preparatory Academy.
Slocum has also served as a resident assistant for the past two years at St. John Fisher.
In addition, one of Slocum’s proudest college moments came when she was able to spend a semester abroad in London, England where she studied at Richmond University. While there she also conducted an internship with the prestigious PR company Jori White PR.
