Empire Animal Rescue Society (E.A.R.S.) Agency Fund - This fund supports the mission of the Empire Animal Rescue Society (E.A.R.S).

Genesis House of Olean Fund - Supports the mission and services of Genesis House of Olean to assist homeless individuals and families. Established by the Genesis House of Olean board of directors.

Interfaith Caregivers Inc. Fund - Supports the mission and services of Interfaith Caregivers. Established by the Interfaith Caregivers board of directors.

Mount View Cemetery Association - This fund was created to establish a convenient and secure way for donors to support the maintenance of the cemetery through online and other donations that will be invested for the betterment of the cemetery and for those buried within and their survivors.

Olean Business Development Corporation Fund - Supports the mission and services of Olean Business Development Corporation. Established by the group’s board of directors.

Olean Community Theatre Endowment Fund - Supports the mission and services of Olean Community Theatre. Established by OCT board of directors.

Olean Food Pantry Fund - Supports the Olean Food Pantry. Established by the Olean Food Pantry board of directors.

Olean Food Pantry Building Project Fund - Supports the Olean Food Pantry’s expansion project. Established by the Olean Food Pantry board of directors.

Olean Meditation Center Fund - Supports the purchase and maintenance of a meditation center in Olean, NY. Established by the Olean Meditation Center advisory group.

Operation Warm Hearts Inc. Fund - Supports the mission of ensuring that every child in our community is kept warm during the harsh WNY winters by providing coats, boots, and winter accessories. Operation Warm Hearts Inc. also provide underwear, socks, shoes and clothing to any child in need throughout the year.

Kay Pfeiffer Gerkin Endowment Fund - Supports Pfeiffer Nature Center and its mission. Established by the nature center.

Pleasant Valley Cemetery Fund - Supports the mission of the Pleasant Valley Cemetery Association by funding items such as, but not limited to, grounds maintenance, equipment, beautification, enlarging and new development. Established by the Pleasant Valley Cemetery Association board of directors.

The Portville Historical and Preservation Society Fund - Supports the mission, programming and operations of the Portville Historical and Preservation Society.

SPCA in Cattaraugus County Fund - Established by the SPCA in Cattaraugus County, this fund supports the organization’s mission to save the lives of and provide adoption services for homeless and neglected animals.

Ten Broeck Academy and Franklinville Central School District Scholarship Fund  - This agency fund is established to provide scholarship awards to Ten Broeck Academy/Franklinville Central School graduates attending post-secondary institutions in accordance with each subordinate fund’s criteria. Subordinate scholarship funds include, Walter F. and Julia A. Dziekonski Scholarship, William H. Schwier Memorial Scholarship and Josephine S. Pepper Memorial Agriculture Scholarship.

Tri-County Arts Council Agency Endowment Fund - Provides support to the Tri-County Arts Council and its mission and supports the current and future administration and programming of the Tri-County Arts Council and the region it serves.

United Way of Cattaraugus County Inc Fund - Supports United Way and its mission. Established by United Way of Cattaraugus County.


Donor Advised Funds

Pete and Karen Buchheit Family Fund - Established by Peter and Karen Buchheit, this fund will support charitable causes such as pancreatic cancer care and research (ex. PanCAN), hospice care and library support as chosen by the fund advisors.

Mahar Family Foundation Fund - Supports various charitable causes. Established by Mrs. Franics (Roberta) Mahar Jr. and Francis Mahar Jr., the fund memorializes Francis Mahar Sr., Margaret Mahar, Daniel Mahar and Francis Mahar Jr.

Laine Family Fund - Supports various charitable causes. Established by Peter Laine.

Olean City School District Foundation Fund - Provides support for programs in and through the Olean City School District. Established by Olean City School District alumni.

Stitt Family Fund - Supports various charitable causes. Established by Jim and Carol Stitt.

Connie and Sandy Wolfinger Fund - Established by Connie and Sandy Wolfinger, this fund will make grants to worthwile charitable causes at the Wolfingers' discretion.

Wolfinger Family Donor Advised Fund - The purpose of the Wolfinger Family Fund is to provide grants under the name of the Wolfinger Family grant program to benefit students in the Coudersport (PA), Smethport (PA) and the Ellicottville (NY) school districts. This fund also supports activities to the Belvidere (NJ) school district through the Wolfinger/Wilhelm grant program. This donor advised fund additionally supports various charitable organizations.

Allegany-Limestone Schools Foundation Fund - Supports Allegany-Limestone School District to enhance and augment student experiences.

Allegany Public Library Memorial Association Fund - This fund was established to support the Allegany Public Library and its programs. Established by the Allegany Public Library Memorial Association.

James R. Bryant Fund - This fund was established by James R. Bryant to provide annual grants to the following charities: YMCA of the Twin Tiers, Joyful Rescues, Bona Responds and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

BWB Food Drive Fund - This fund supports the Olean Food Pantry or its succesor(s) in purchasing food for distribution to area residents.

Carroll Anstaett Olean Little League Fund - Supports the Olean Little League. Established by Carroll Anstaett, who helped organize the league in 1952.

Mike & Laura Bysiek Memorial Fund - Established in memory of Mike & Laura Bysiek by their daughters, Jean Gonska and Lorraine Diggs, this fund provides annual grants to organizations designated by the fund advisors, including Joyful Rescues, HomeCare & Hospice, SPCA of Cattaraugus County, Olean Food Pantry, Canticle Farm and Olean General Hospital Foundation.

Samuel Costa Endowment Fund - Supports St. Elizabeth Roman Catholic Church, Smethport, PA; St. Raphael’s Roman Catholic Church, Eldred, PA; and Hamlin Memorial Library, Smethport, PA. Established by Samuel Costa.

Maureen Curry Olean Food Pantry Community Garden Fund - This fund supports the community garden managed by the Olean Food Pantry. Established by Maureen Curry.

Dan H. Daniels Memorial Fund - This fund was established to support the maintenance and renovation of the organ at the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels in Olean in memory of Dan Daniels, a former Solepoxy employee and longtime member of the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels.

Eagle Scout Fund - This fund will provide support to the Allegheny Highlands Council Boy Scouts of America for membership and training initiatives.

The Rev. Leo J. Gallina Endowment Fund for St. Bernard of Clairvaux Church - Supports St. Bernard of Clairvaux Church, Bradford, Pa., including support of parishioners in need, and its community outreach to help others.

Gator Fund - Promotes and enriches the learning and athletic experience for students in the Port Allegany School District, particularly Port Allegany High School, through the funding of worthwhile endeavors. Established by Donald Barnard.

Carroll and Dolores Anstaett Gift Tree Fund - Supports the Gift Tree program (administered by Interfaith Caregivers) which assists the less fortunate by providing holiday gifts to them at Christmas. Established by Carroll and Dolores Anstaett.

Paul and Betty Hanson Fund - This fund provides annual grants to four charitable organizations: Mercy Flight WNY, Town of Olean Fire Department, Olean General Hospital foundation, and the Olean Public Library. The fund was established by Paul and Elizabeth (Betty) Hanson.

Paul and Mary Janowicz Memorial Fund - Supports the Great Valley Volunteer Fire Company, Olean General Hospital Foundation for the Marie Lorenz Dialysis Center Fund and Olean Public Library and also funds an annual scholarship available to graduating seniors from Ellicottville Central School. Established by Paul and Elizabeth Hanson in memory of Mrs. Hanson’s parents.

Kothari Family Endowment Fund - Supports the Olean General Hospital and the Olean Food Pantry with annual grants and also funds two annual scholarships for students pursuing a health-care related degree, one available to Allegany-Limestone High School students and one for students attending high school in Cattaraugus County or McKean County (PA). Established by Drs. Ashok and Yogini Kothari.

The McMullen Fund - Established by the Mcmullen family, this fund makes annual grants to the Tri-County Arts Council and the Pfeiffer Nature Center.

The McMullen Fund for the Environment - A subfund of the McMullen Fund, this fund provides financial resources for organizations to cover expenses from/for actions taken to protect or preserve the natural environment including water, air, land and the rural or natural character of Cattaraugus and Allegany counties in New York State. Grants will be considered for expenses such as legal fees, promotion, education and/or land acquisition. The goal of the fund is to ensure a healthy and scenic natural environment for flora, fauna and the residents of these counties.

Mildred Milliman Fund -  Annual grants from this fund benefit 34 national and local charities, including Olean General Hospital. Established by Mildred Milliman.

Roger S. Niemic Memorial Fund - Established in memory of Roger S. Niemic of Charlotte, NC and a native of Erie, PA, this fund will provide grants annually to support the research and cure of juvenile diabetes through organizations such as the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and/or local chapters of JDRF such as the Western Pennsylvania Chapter and the Greater Western North Carolinas Chapter. Roger had juvenile diabetes since childhood, but managed his illness and led a full, productive and happy life. He died March 27, 2017 at age 55 after a very brief illness. He was a brother to Karen Niemic Buchheit, Tim Niemic, Terri (Niemic) Warras and Doug Niemic and was the son of Stan Niemic and Pat Niemic.

Jim and Gail Olson Mercy Flight Fund - Grants support Mercy Flight WNY. Established by Gail Olson.

Luella Potter Endowment Fund - Supports the Southern Tier Catholic School System. Established by a group of parents of children attending STCS to honor teacher Luella Potter for her years of dedication and service as a teacher.

Barby Ried Social Fund - The fund is established to provide grants of  to SubCon, a division of the ReHabilitation Center Inc. for holiday/social/entertainment activities/events for SubCon clients to enhance their working experience. Established in memory of Barby Ried.

Redding Endowment Fund - Annual grants from this fund benefit the Hinsdale Volunteer Fire Department and both East View Elementary and Hinsdale Central Schools, with the school grants to be used at the discretion of a third grade teacher at each respective school.

Doris Reisner Endowment Fund - Provides annual grants to 10 local and national charities. Established by Doris Reisner.

Lewis & Doris Reisner Endowment Fund - Supports Olean General Hospital. Established by Doris Reisner in memory of her husband, Dr. Lewis C. Reisner.

Walt & Ruth Reisner Endowment Fund - This fund supports an annual scholarship, Olean High School Walter L. Reisner Unsung Lineman Award, for an Olean High School football letter winner. The remaining distribution is split as follows: 75% to Olean General Hospital Foundation for Emergency Medical Services or Obstetrics and 25% to Southern Tier Health Care System. Established in memory of Walter Reisner.

St. John Church Endowment Fund - Supports the church’s projects. Established by parishioners of St. John’s Church.

Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels Future Fund - Supports the church’s projects. Established by parishioners of Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels Church.

Vergil Sutter Memorial Fund - Supports the St. Bonaventure University men’s basketball team and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Varma Childs Human Services Fund- This fund supports the Olean Food Pantry, Genesis House, New Life Christian School, African American Center for Cultural Development and the Homecare & Hospice Foundation. Established by Varma Childs.

Kay & Oliver Williams/Rushford Endowment Fund - Provides annual grants to eight charities in the Rushford area. Established by Oliver Williams.

Paul and Mary Lou Wood Foundation Fund - Provides annual grants to St. Bonaventure University, Franciscan Center for Social Concern at St. Bonaventure University, St. Mary of the Angels Church and Olean General Hospital. Established by Paul and Mary Lou Wood.

Yehl Family Endowment - Makes annual grants to World Vision and Samaritan’s Purse, organizations that aid the needy around the world suffering from hunger, homelessness, natural disasters, etc. Established by Stephen Yehl.


Field of Interest Funds

Allegany-Cattaraugus-Chautauqua Fund for Women - Promotes philanthropy by and for woman. The goal of the fund is to invest in the lives of women in our communities in order to promote self-sustained efficiency. Established by Melissa Jusianec.

Allegany Nordic Fund - Supports enhancement of cross-country skiing on the Art Roscoe Trails of the Allegany State Park. Established by Allegany Nordic, a group of regional cross country skiing enthusiasts.

Allegany River Skate Park Fund - Supports the construction of the Allegany River Skate Park.

Allegheny River Valley Trail Fund - Supports the Allegheny River Valley Trail. Established by citizens who spearheaded the construction of the trail, it was the first fund at the Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation.

Beautification Fund for Olean Community - Supports projects to improve and enhance the beauty of the Olean area. Established by Mildred Milliman.

Brady's Cause Fund - This fund was established by Frank Higgins in memory of Brady, his beloved Husky, to support animal welfare in the Cattaraugus County region through support to animal welfare agencies such as Empire Animal Rescue Society (EARS) and the SPCA in Cattaraugus County.

Caneadea Dam at Rushford Lake Fund - Supports projects to preserve and protect the Caneadea Dam as well as promote public education and awareness of the structure at Rushford Lake.

Cattaraugus County Law Enforcement Fund - Provides additional support to law enforcement personnel for training, equipment and other needs, especially for the SRT, and for community relations through activities such as the Santa Sheriff Program. Established by the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Department.

Cattaraugus County Law Enforcement Project Lifesaver Fund - Helps purchase monitoring equipment which will provide a timely response to save lives and reduce potential injury for adults and children who wander due to Alzheimer’s, autism and other related conditions in Cattaraugus County. Established by the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Department.

CCSO K9 Fund - To provide support for the Cattaraugus County K9 Team. The fund will be used to pay for equipment, publications and training related to crime prevention and law enforcement associated with the Cattaraugus County K9 Team.

Cattaraugus County Suicide Prevention Coalition Fund - Supports suicide prevention initiatives and projects in Cattaraugus County. Established by the Cattaraugus County Suicide Prevention Coalition.

Christmas in Allegany - To provide grants to enhance the Village of Allegany during the holiday season with decorations and programming.

Citizens Advocating Memorial Preservation (CAMP) Fund - Supports the mission of CAMP with any funds raised and not disbursed to that purpose to be used to support the preservation of other historically relevant memorials. Established by the CAMP committee.

Continental 1 Corridor Fund - Supports awareness and advocacy initiatives that will bring safe and faster travel by completing a four-lane U.S. Route 219 infrastructure, in turn strengthening and sustaining communities in the Route 219 corridor. Established by Continental 1.

Cuba Lake Area Young Sailors’ Fund - Helps fund instruction and the acquisition of materials, supplies and equipment needed for sailing. Established by the Cuba Lake Yacht Club.

Ellicottville Community/Bicentennial Fund (ECBF) - This fund supports projects and activities associated with Ellicottville's Bicentennial and projects and activities that enrich the Ellicottville community.

Ellicottville Great Valley Recreational Trail Fund - Supports the development of the Ellicottville Great Valley Recreational Trail. Established by citizens of the Ellicottville and Great Valley area. For more information visit www.facebook.com/EVLtrail

Ellicottville Skate Park Fund - This fund was established to help build and maintain a skateboard park in Ellicottville.

Erie Cattaraugus Rail Trail Fund - This fund will support projects contributing to the development of the Erie Cattaraugus Rail Trail corridor as a multi-use recreational trail.

Paula Flint Fund for the Performing Arts - Supports the performing arts and the promotion of the performing arts. Established in memory of Paula Flint by her sister, Kathy Kinnaird.

Fox Derwick Family Supporting Children in the Arts Fund - This fund's purpose  is to provide children more access to The Arts in the Olean Community. The fund will provide annual support to students at the Neighbordhood School of Dance, Olean Theatre Workshop and Tri-County Arts Council. The annual grant support will provide financial assistance to youth who would otherwise not be able to access the programs at each organization due to financial barriers.

Golf “Fore” Heroes Fund - This fund supports the Wounded Warrior Project through an annual golf tournament at Pine Acres Country Club in Bradford, PA. Golf “Fore” Heroes.

Greater Olean Hospitality Scuplture/Monument Fund - This fund was established to honor recipients inducted into the Greater Olean Hospitality Wall of Fame by funding a sculpture/monument in a local Olean Park that will depict the hospitality industry with engraved names of past and future wall of fame honorees.

Gus Macker – Olean City School District Foundation - Supports the annual Gus Macker Tournament and fundraising activities. Fundraising proceeds are split between the Olean City School Foundation and the Olean High School Sports Boosters for projects funded by each.

Higgins Memorial Golf Tournament Fund - Grants benefit local charities as determined by the Higgins Memorial Committee. Established by Higgins Memorial Golf Tournament committee members. For more information, visit www.higginsmemorial.org

Horse Resource Fund - Provides financial assistance to those fostering horses in rescue situations. For more information on Horse Resource, visit www.horse-resource.org.

Elisa B. Hughey Memorial Fund for the Arts - This fund provides grants for arts education and artists, awarded at the discretion of the fund advisor and could include, but are not limited to: funding for a student to attend the NY State Summer School of Arts, fine arts program; local community arts education programs; and support for local artists to exhibit and sell their works.

Jamie’s Fund - Provides financial assistance to Holiday Valley snowsports instructors seeking to improve their skills by attending Professional Snowsports Instructors of America training events. Established in memory of Jamie Grzankowski by Robert Shane.

F. Donald Kenney Fund - Supports the Southern Tier Biennial juried art show, accompanying solo exhibits and professional and artistic development workshops and lectures. Established through the estate of F. Donald Kenney.

Kids and Cancer Endowment Fund - Established by the Kids and Cancer Committee, this endowment will provide perpetual support to Kids and Cancer through the life of the endowment.

Daniel “Tiger” Krick Junior Golf Program Fund - Assists young golfers through scholarships to join the Bartlett Country Club for the summer to improve their game. Established anonymously.

Marianne Letro Laine Caregiver and Respite Fund - The purpose of this fund is to provide support and respite for caregivers, primarily, but not limited to those caring for elderly patients in their home.

Little Valley Fund - This fund will support projects and activities that will benefit the Village and/or Town of Little Valley including beatification of the area and offering entertainment, educational, historical and recreational opportunities for residents and visitors. 

Meals on Wheels/Friends of Aging Fund of Cattaraugus County - Supports the Meals on Wheels and Friends of Aging programs of Cattaraugus County. Established by the Cattaraugus County Department of Aging.

Mental Wellness in Cattaraugus County Fund - This fund supports programs and activities that promote and support mental wellness in Cattaraugus County in the spirit that was intended by Mental Health Association in Cattaraugus County (MHACC). Grants are limited to 501(c)(3) organizations or programs operated by a licensed mental health practitioner or agency. Generally grants from this fund cannot be used for overhead or start-up. Grant applications will be accepted once per year, with the deadline of Sept. 1.

Using the above criteria, grant applications will be reviewed by the Foundation’s Grant Allocations Committee which will recommend the awardee(s) each year, with input from special committee members named by the fund advisors.

Mountain Sports Fund - Provides scholarship aid for amateur skiers to attend training camps. Established by Gary Talcott.

Olean Parks Beautification Fund - Supports projects to beautify and enhance parks in the City of Olean. Established by Erick and Marianne Laine.

Olean Rotary Club Community Improvement Fund - Supports bringing historic “silent policeman” monument to Lincoln Park and Lincoln Park gazebo repairs and renovations. Established by the Olean Rotary Club.

Olean Veterans Wall of Honor Fund - This fund provides support for the upkeep of the Olean War Veterans Wall of Honor monument including, but not limited to, paying for maintenence, landscaping around the monument, flowers, flags and memorial bricks. The fund is designated to receive donations for memorial bricks placed at the monument as well. 

Rose Pappas Foundation Fund - Grants are made to various organizations supporting the needs of the elderly and handicapped or other categories of need at the discretion of the CRCF board of directors. Established by the late Betty Pappas to honor the memory of her sister, Rose.

Ross A. Peters Memorial Fund - Supports various charitable causes. The fund’s first grants will be made to the Make A Wish Foundation. Established in memory of Ross A. Peters by his family members.

The Pink Pumpkin Project Fund - Supports women and men in a 30-40 mile radius of Olean, NY battling breast cancer during treatment through moral support as well as assists deserving and needy individuals with co-pays for medical treatment or related expenses such as travel to medical appointments, prosthetics or help with paying bills due to the burden of other medical costs. This fund also provides an annual scholarship grant to the Laurie Anzivine Memorial Scholarship Fund. www.thepinkpumpkinproject.org

The Pink Pumpkin Project Endowed Fund - Supports the mission of The Pink Project Fund. Grants from this endowment will be made to support causes at the request of The Pink Pumpkin Project committee including support services to breast cancer fighters and survivors including, but not limited to, support group sessions, stress relief programs, etc. Established by the Pink Pumpkin Project committee.

Frank Pitillo Memorial Fund - This fund will support the fundraising efforts to replace the lighting on the Ellicottville Central School football field, which was donated in 1976 in memory of Frank Pitillo, and also to provide scholarships for Ellicottville Central School students should any funding remain after the completion of the lighting project. 

Otto-Eldred Education Foundation Fund - The Otto-Eldred Foundation is a nonprofit 501 (c) (3) organization established for charitable and educational purposes to receive and allocate resources that serve to promote and complement scholastic excellence by expanding learning opportunities, by maximizing student and staff potential, and by advancing the fine work already underway in the Otto-Eldred public schools.

Cattaraugus County/Gene and Charlotte Preston Fund for the Elderly - This fund helps provide housing assistance and other forms of assistance to the elderly in Cattaraugus County as directed by the Cattaraugus County Department of Aging. Grants may include but are not limited to: providing housing support by paying back taxes, rent or mortgage payments for elderly residents in financial need, providing legal support/services to resolve housing issues, or paying for repairs needed to make a home handicapped-accessible or address code violations to allow the residents to stay in their home as long as possible and feasible.

Ram Fund of Cattaraugus County - This fund supports the RAM clinic in the greater Olean area by covering the cost of needed services and supplies including but not limited to items such as tents, security, food, PPP and insurance.

Rotary Club of Ellicottville Fund - This fund supports charitable projects at the recommendation of the Rotary Club of Ellicottville.
Santa Claus Lane Fund - Supports the Santa Claus Lane program for the City of Olean. Established by the Greater Olean Area Chamber of Commerce.

Jack Reading Memorial Fund - Established in memory of Jack Reading by the Holiday Valley Race Team Parents Association (HVRTPA), this fund provides scholarship stipends for need-based recipients of the Holiday Valley Race Team to help cover skiing expenses such as travel, post-season competitions, camps and competition fees and for special team recognitions. Rollin “Jack” Reading was a familiar fixture on the ski slopes at Holiday Valley, working as an equipment operator and groomer. He was the head starter for the Holiday Valley racing program and was affectionately known to the skiers as “Grandpa Jack.” “Grandpa Jack” witnessed and fostered the growth of hundreds of athletes over the years. On the coldest day at the top of the hill, Jack was there, always smiling and providing a calm to boost the confidence of racers. Santa Sheriff Fund - Supports holiday gifts for disadvantaged families in Cattaraugus County. Gifts are purchased and distributed by the Sheriff’s department.

Southern Tier Military Support Group Fund - Provides aid to military personnel and their families through the operations of the Southern Tier Military Support Group.

Special Response Team Fund - Helps provide equipment and training for the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s department to support better public safety and crime prevention

Springville Chamber of Commerce Fund - This fund supports community projects that will have a lasting benefit for residents and visitors in the Springville Area

STAB It Foundation Fund - Grants benefit organizations providing prevention programs and/or treatment of substance abuse. Established by Tonya Previglian.

Suicide Prevention Coalition Fund - Used to support suicide prevention initiatives and programs in Cattaraugus County.

Beth Todd Memorial Fund - Provides grants to support cancer patients in need with various services such as co-pays, transportation costs or prosthetics. Established by her husband, Greg Todd.

Veggie Wheels Fund - Supports the Veggie Wheels’ mission of providing fresh vegetables and nutritional education to low-income individuals in Cattaraugus County.

Visual Arts Alliance Endowment Fund - Supports the visual arts through various means including annual shows, open studios and tours, and art programs in the schools. Established anonymously.

Wagner Family Fund - This fund will provide support to libraries in Allegany and Cattaraugus counties for education programming and new activities for youth and adults. Applications to the fund will be accepted on an annual basis. The size and number of grant awards will vary based on the amount available each year. Applications will be due each fall to allow for awards to be made in November.

Wing Ski Club Endowment Fund - Supports local amateur youth ski racing programs, primarily through the Holiday Valley Training Center. Established by the Wing Ski Club.

Woodland in the City Endowment Fund - Supports the squirrel sculpture project in the City of Olean and in the future will support the Olean Historical and Preservation Society and plans for a children’s museum. Established by Amy Sherburne.

Louis Zamperini Tribute Fund - Established by community members for the purchase and placement of a granite marker in honor of Olean-native, Olympian and WWII hero Louis Zamperini.

Kaleigh Wilday Endowment Fund - Supports local charities that support youth development and education or programs for youth, with grants awarded on or around November 10, Kaleigh’s birthday. An annual grant is also given to Jamestown Community College for scholarship aid to a graduate of Cuba-Rushford High School. Established by Skip and Greta Wilday as a memorial to their daughter.


Unrestricted Funds

Anonymous II Fund - Provides grants to address the most urgent needs of the community. Established by an anonymous donor.

Community Fund - An unrestricted fund to benefit the community’s greatest needs including Foundation events and activities that support the Community Foundation’s mission. Established by the Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation.

Erick Laine Lift Up Endowment Fund - Established through an unrestricted bequest from the estate of Erick Laine, the CRCF board of directors has established the following priorities for grants from this fund as they represent and honor Erick’s values and his love for the greater Olean community:

  • Increased Educational Opportunities – Erick valued lifting people up to use their talents regardless of financial means. Scholarship grants from this fund will focus on giving people access to education or training that they might not otherwise have. This is not limited to 4-year colleges, but can include 2-year colleges, trade schools or certificate programs. This scholarship is not limited to high school students, but will include non-traditional students, particularly those seeking to advance in their careers (ex. underemployed), change careers or seeking re-entry into the workforce. Support could include assistance for transportation and child care and/or incentives for completing courses or certificates or internship scholarships. 

CRCF would like to work with a partner college or school to identify worthy scholarship candidates particularly those in the fields of manufacturing and health care, but not limited to those fields. Preference will be given to students from Jamestown Community College/Cattaraugus County Campus. 

  • A Vibrant Business Community – Erick valued hard work and an entrepreneurial spirit. Grants to Olean Business Development Corporation (or other business-focused nonprofits)  will be made to help existing businesses to change or expand and/or to help entrepreneurs launch or bolster new businesses. Grants can also be offered to complement existing “pitch” contests (Shark Tank-like programs to help entrepreneurs) managed by OBDC or other business-focused nonprofits. Preference will be given to applications from the greater Olean area, but all of Cattaraugus County will be considered. 

Other types of support to nonprofits or colleges providing support to entrepreneurs also will be considered.  


Scholarship Funds

Allegany Public Library Memorial Association Fund - This scholarship is for a graduating senior from Allegany-Limestone who excels in English and will be attending a 2- or 4-year college. One of the student's reference letters must be from an English teacher. The ALCS librarian will serve as the scholarship reviewer and recommend the student recipient each year.

Nancy Allen Memorial Scholarship Fund - This scholarship is for a student graduating from Franklinville Central School/Ten Broeck Academy who is pursuing study or a career in the health care field. In their application materials the student should demonstrate hard work, have been active as a volunteer at school and/or in the community and exhibit qualities of care and compassion. Financial need may be considered. Established by the family of Nancy Allen, this scholarship memorializes Mrs. Allen, a graduate of TBA and University at Buffalo. Nancy was most well-known as being one of the first home health nurses in the Franklinville and Olean Area.

Laurie Anzivine Memorial Scholarship Fund - A scholarship program of the Pink Pumpkin Project, this $1,000 scholarship is awarded to a graduating high school senior from any high school in Cattaraugus County, first preference, or any high school in the surrounding community served by The Pink Pumpkin Project, who will be attending a two- or four-year college or secondary trade school and who has had an immediate family member or guardian who has gone through cancer treatment. The student must be in good academic standing. Financial need is not a factor. The applicant must submit an essay of no more than 350 words explaining what the student learned from his/her family member or guardian who struggled with cancer and the impact it left on him/her and what advice the student would give to someone else who may face the same situation. 

This year, there will be 2 - $500 scholarships awarded; 1 to a NY student and 1 to a PA student. 

Fred P. Baker Memorial Scholarship Fund - This scholarship, established in memory of Fred P. Baker is for a student graduating from Otto-Eldred (PA) High School who will be attending an accredited post-secondary institution – such as a trade school or 2- or 4-year college. Financial need must be demonstrated. The student does not necessarily need to have the top grades, but should demonstrate hard work toward overcoming a challenge and minimum grade of 2.0.

Elodine Swarts Baxter and Lena Conrad Swarts Memorial Scholarship Fund - This scholarship (amount varies) is for a promising and deserving graduating senior from Hinsdale Central School or a resident of Ischua, NY, regardless of what high school the student attends. The student must demonstrate academic success, involvement in extracurricular activities and financial need. Established by Norman Baxter in memory of his mother, Elodine Swarts Baxter, and grandmother, Lena Conrad Swarts.

Albert A. Bennett Jr. Family Scholarship Fund - This award (amount varies) is for a graduating Otto-Eldred (PA) High School senior pursuing a post-secondary degree at a 2- or 4-year college. Students should demonstrate academic excellence, participation in extracurricular activities and strong educational/career goals. Established by Sue Bennett in memory of her husband.

Nelson M. Beard Memorial Scholarship - This scholarship, in memory of Nelson Beard,  a former educator at Salamanca, is for a student from the Salamanca City Central School District who is planning to attend a 2- or 4-year college or technical/trade school, with second preference going to a student from any school in Cattaraugus County planning to attend a 2- or 4-year college or trade/technical school.

Big 30 Athletic Fund Scholarship - For four students graduating in the Big 30 region of Allegany and Cattaraugus Counties as well as Pennsylvania schools in the Big 30 (40 school districts total) who have participated in at least two sports for all four years of high school. Emphasis will be placed on involvement in sports, but academic achievement will also be considered. Financial need may be considered.

Tyler Bihler Memorial Scholarship - A scholarship for two students each year, one male and one female, graduating from Olean High School with GPAs of 80 or above. Preference for students accepted to a four- or two-year college who demonstrate qualities of good citizenship and character. Established by Tyler Bihler’s family. The first scholarship was awarded  when Tyler’s class graduated in 2014.

Burt Scholarship - An annual scholarship awarded to one student each from Olean High, Allegany-Limestone Central, Hinsdale Central and Portville Central schools and based solely on a student’s financial need. Established by the Burt Committee of the First Presbyterian Church of Olean in memory of Dr. Rudy Burt.

Tim Bushnell Memorial Scholarship - This scholarship, established in memory of Tim Bushnell, a former educator at Southern Tier Catholic School, Olean Middle School and Cuba-Rushford Central School,  is awarded to one student from Olean High School and one student from Portville High School, with each student to receive a scholarship award. Applicants must be enrolled to attend a 2- or 4-year college in the fall of their graduation year. Students must be in good academic standing, demonstrate financial need, and submit the required documents for the CRCF common application. There are no preferences for a specific major.

May C. Carroll Scholarship - This award (amount varies) is for a graduating senior who is a resident of the Village of Cattaraugus. Recipients must demonstrate academic promise, participation in extracurricular activities and community service. Financial need is not a factor. Established through the May C. Carroll Trust.

Cattaraugus County Trappers Memorial Scholarship - Established by the Cattaraugus County Trappers Association, this fund will initially provide two awards for graduating high school students in Cattaraugus, Allegany or Chautauqua counties who plan to pursue a degree in Natural Resources Conservation, Fish & Wildlife Management, Forest Management or similar area of study at a 2- or 4-year college. Financial need will be considered. Minimum grade average must be 75 or higher. Applicants must include list of outdoors sports in which they participate, a statement on importance of the role of sportsmen in conservation and management of fish and wildlife and natural resources, and information on career path in their goal statement.

Chautauqua Cattaraugus Board of Realtors Scholarship Fund - Two scholarships each for students from Cattaraugus County and two $500 scholarships each for students from Chautauqua County planning to attend either a 2- or 4- year college, with preference for students who will be majoring in the business field. The student must also be in good academic standing. Financial need is not considered. Established by the Chautauqua Cattaraugus Board of Realtors.

Community Scholarship Fund - This scholarship was fund established under the direction of the CRCF Board of Directors and was initially funded by the Erick Laine Lift Up Endowment Fund to provide annual scholarship awards for deserving students in Cattaraugus County at the discretion of the CRCF scholarship committee.

Shaun Costa Memorial Scholarship - This scholarship is for graduating seniors of Allegany-Limestone Central School. Prference will be given to a student pursuing an education or expressing an interest in a career in either a first responder- or vocational/technical-related field and/or to a student who has faced a challenge and persevered. Financial need will be considered but is not required. 

Chipmonk Community Hall Scholarship - This scholarship will make possible scholarship awards for graduating students of Allegany-Limestone Central School, with preference given to a relative of a current resident of or resident of the Allegany, NY area of Chipmonk. 

Thomas W. Conklin Sr. Scholarship Fund - This scholarship is an annual award given to a graduating senior from Allegany-Limestone or Olean High School who plans to attend the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford. The student must have maintained an overall grade point average of 85 or above during his or her high school career and exhibited high academic effort. The student must exhibit certain intangible qualities including: kindness to others, leadership, positive attitude, and sense of humor. The student must demonstrate past involvement in the community.

Maureen Curry Inspirational Scholarship - This scholarship is intended to inspire and encourage needy individuals who wish to improve their education and/or job skills through credit or noncredit education or training programs at Jamestown Community College or any other accredited institution or who need assistance with clothing, equipment or related items in order to apply for and obtain a better job and/or enroll in a training program. 

Jen DeLong Memorial Scholarship -This scholarship, established in memory of Jen DeLong, will be for a graduating senior from Ten Broeck Academy/Franklinville Central School District who is pursuing a career in or demonstrates excellence in STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) and music subject areas. Preference will be for a female graduate. Reference letters and a list of extracurricular activities should address the student’s academic excellence or participation in STEM subject areas and band and/or choral music. A short essay should describe the student’s academic and career goals.

Dresser-Rand Employees Scholarship Fund - This scholarship, established by the Dresser-Rand Employee Trust Association, is open to the children of employees of Dresser-Rand/Siemens Energy. Employees must have been Olean-based employees as of February 2, 2020 with at least 12 months of service.

Walter F. and Julia A. Dziekonski Scholarship - A scholarship of the Ten Broeck Academy and Franklinville Central School District Fund, this scholarship is awarded to two graduates annually, one male and one female, with strong career goals. Preference may be given to students pursuing a degree in a law enforcement-related field.

Louis W. Ensworth Charitable Foundation Trust Scholarship for Allegany-Limestone Central School - This scholarship, established by Louis Ensworth, a former educator, benefits a deserving student participating in the girls' basketball program at Allegany-Limestone Central School. The initial award amount is $500 annually. The fund will also provide a $2,500 award for a deserving student who will attend a 2- or 4-year college or trade school who has maintained a B or better average and has worked hard to achieve their academic success. The recipient will be eligible to recieve the scholarship for up to two years. Recipients must submit their transcripts to verify they maintained a B or better average to continue receiving the award.

Ensworth Charitable Foundation Trust Scholarship for Olean High School - This scholarship, established by Louis Ensworth, a former educator, benefits a deserving student participating in the girls' basketball program at Olean High School. The initial award amount is $500 annually.  The fund will also provide a $2,500 award for a deserving student who will attend a 2- or 4-year college or trade school who has maintained a B or better average and has worked hard to achieve their academic success. The recipient will be eligible to recieve the scholarship for up to two years. Recipients must submit their transcripts to verify they maintained a B or better average to continue receiving the award.           

Ernst Family Scholarship - This scholarship, established by members of the Ernst family in honor of Gerry and Diane Ernst's 50th wedding anniversary, is for graduating seniors of Ten Broeck Academy/Franklinville Central School District in good academic standing planning to pursue a degree at any post-secondary  (1-, 2- or 4-year) college or career/technical school. Preference will be for a student pursuing study or a career in a math or science field. The preferred recipient also demonstrated success through effort and has been involved in two or more extracurricular activities and/or community service. Gerry and Diane both taught in the Franklinville Central School district for over 30 years.

Jack & Muriel Fogarty Memorial Scholarship - A $500 award for a senior graduating from Olean High School with a GPA of 80 or above, accepted to a four-year college. Must demonstrate financial need and ability to balance academic standing with extracurricular activities and work. Must maintain 2.5 GPA to renew. Established as part of the Olean City School District Scholarship Fund and the DJH Foundation.

Sondra J. Fox Scholarship - This scholarship is for a student from Cattaraugus County who is pursuing a career in the mental health field with first preference for a student in a master's level program and second preference for an undergraduate college student who will be entering junior or senior year. Major fields include, but are not limited to, counseling, social work and psychiatric nursing. This fund was established by Ruth D. Palmquist and Sondra J. Fox.

William D. and Catherine Griffin Fraser Scholarship - This scholarship, part of the William D. and Catherine Griffin Fraser Fund, has the following criteria: Preference for a graduating senior from Olean High School or Cuba-Rushford Central School, but other graduates from other high schools in Cattaraugus or Allegany counties will be considered; preference for a four-year college, but two-year is eligible; student must be in good academic standing; financial need will be considered; preference for a student interested in a career in the medical field or education, but other majors will be considered. The amount and number of awards can be adjusted based on the amount available to grant each year.

Gene and Sandra Froebel Teachers Scholarship - This scholarship, established in memory of Gene and Sandra Froebel, is for students graduating from Allegany-Limestone, Portville, Hinsdale, Cuba-Rushford, Oswayo Valley and Bradford High schools attending a 4-year college who are in good academic standing and plan to pursue a career in education.  Consideration is also given to students who have overcome a hardship or challenge and/or have participated in athletics.

Good Samaritan Award Fund -  Awarded to an Olean High School graduate who demonstrates and models exceptional qualities of care, compassion and concern for fellow students and community. The recipient must have participated in one or more Homeless Huskie Night events during his/her tenure at OHS. Community service and active roles in leadership will also be taken into consideration.

Fred G. Grace Memorial Scholarship - This scholarship is for a senior from Allegany-Limestone High School who attended Allegany-Limestone for four years and will be majoring in business, teacher education or a sports-related field. Must be a varsity letter winner. Award amount varies.

Greater Olean Hospitality Scholarship - This fund will support annual scholarship awards for graduating seniors of high schools in the Greater Olean area (Olean, Portville, Hinsdale and Allegany-Limestone), attending a 2- or 4-year institution. Preference will be for a student pursuing a degree in a hospitality industry-related field of study (including but not limited to business, culinary arts, hospitality and management, etc.). The amount and number of awards will vary and will depend on the amount available to spend.

Phyllis Green Memorial Scholarship - This fund will provide financial assistance to single parents in the form of a scholarship to their children from any of the following geographic areas: Big 30 area (schools in Allegany and Cattaraugus Couties in NY and Potter, McKean and Cameron counties and Sheffield High School in PA), Mansfield, PA; and Lawrence Unified School District (KS)/Lawrence Freestate High School (KS).

Russell F. Greenawalt & Elizabeth Page Greenawalt Scholarship - This award covers the total of Cornell University tuition, room and board less any other scholarships received. Available to an Olean High School senior who demonstrates the strongest academic record of those accepted to Cornell. Renewable up to four years. Must maintain satisfactory academic progress in order to renew. Established as part of the Olean City School District Scholarship Fund through the estate of Russell F. Greenawalt. This award is named in honor of Mr. Greenawalt, a Cornell alumnus, and his wife, Elizabeth Page Greenawalt, who both attended Olean City Schools. His father, William C. Greenawalt was superintendent of Olean City School District for 20 years. Scholarship is not currently available as a student is currently in receipt of the award. The award will next be available again in 2022.

Hamburg Track Scholarship Fund - This scholarship is for Hamburg High School track athletes who exhibit strong academic performance, athletic performance and character.

Paul and Betty Hanson Career/Technical Scholarship - This scholarship is awarded annually to one or two students graduating from Olean High School who are pursuing post-secondary career or technical education at a trade or technical school. Academic merit and financial need are considered. Trade or technical programs could include, but are not limited to, drafting, welding, air conditioning and heating technology, autobody repair, automotive technology, CAD, building/trade construction, heavy equipment technology, masonry, manufacturing technology, office technology, medical office technology, culinary arts and cosmetology.

Alyn J. Heim Music Scholarship - The purpose of the fund is to provide financial assistance to a deserving high school senior prospective music (vocal or instrumental or music education) major. Must be a graduating senior from a Cattaraugus County high school; preference for a student recommended through the Cattaraugus County Music Teachers Association program. Must have been accepted at a post-secondary institution (4-year college, 2-year college). Demonstrate academic success by have a grade point average of 3.0/90/B and/or must be in top 5 percent of high school class. Established by Paul DeRitter.

Patricia “Ann” Heister English/Journalism Memorial Scholarship - This scholarship is awarded annually to a graduating senior from Ten Broeck Academy/Franklinville Central School who will be entering a four-year college or university. The first preference will be for a student intending to major in English, journalism or a related field and who submits a letter of recommendation from his/her high school English teacher. The second preference is for a student with any major who submits a letter of recommendation from his/her high school English teacher. The student should demonstrate good academic standing. Financial need is considered.

Joseph and Cecily Higgins Scholarship Fund - This fund supports a scholarship for students  graduating from Allegany-Limestone Central School or Archbishop Walsh who intend to pursue a degree in one of the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math)-related majors Financial need may be considered. This scholarship shall be renewable for up to 4 years total. The student must submit an academic transcript at the end of the year and demonstrate at least a 2.5 GPA to reapply. The amount of the scholarship will be $2,500 per year, for up $10,000 total for 4 years. Established by Joseph and Cecily Higgins.

Hinsdale Alumni Association Memorial Scholarship - A scholarship for a graduating senior or seniors at Hinsdale Central School. Applicants should have an average of 80 percent or higher, demonstrate qualities of good citizenship and good character, and have definite educational goals. Established by the Hinsdale Alumni Association.

Kristen Hintz Memorial Scholarship Award - This scholarship is named in memory of Kristen Nicole Hintz, who was a senior at Ellicottville Central School and at the top of her class when a tragic auto accident cut her life short in 2000. She was a leader at the top of her class. She was a multi-sport athlete who always gave her best and persevered through difficult situations. Her kindness touched all she met. She had a way of making everyone feel welcomed. Kristen also was active in her church and volunteered in her community.

This fund provides one  or two scholarships for a student(s) graduating from Ellicottville Central School depending on funds available and number/quality applicants.

Students applying for this scholarship must include an essay that describes and explains what characteristics and qualities he/she possesses that makes him/her deserving of this scholarship, including information that reflects the how he/she demonstrate kindness and perseverance, qualities for which Kristen was known. The essay should also describe any situation where he/she has overcome an obstacle or met a challenge in life and information about a time when he/she made an impact on someone’s life.

Don and Bern Holcomb Memorial Scholarship Fund - This scholarship was created in memory of Don and Bern Holcomb and is for high school students from any school in Cattaraugus or Allegany county who plans to attend an accredited post-secondary institution with a preference for a student majoring in an agricultural or conservation-related field or a female pursuing an engineering degree.

Vincent C. Horth Memorial Scholarship Fund - This scholarship is for a graduating senior from Cattaraugus-Little Valley High School who plans to attend a post-secondary school (trade/technical school or college) with a preference for a student studying to be an electrician or automechanic. 

Hughey Family Award for Resilience - This fund provides a scholarship award to students from Olean High School to pursue post-secondary education at any accredited institution including 2- and 4-year colleges and vocational training schools. The award is renewable for up to four years. The student recipient must be in good academic standing and demonstrate financial need. Most importantly through the student’s goal statement in the application the student must demonstrate resilience by stating how he/she has overcome adversity with grace, carried on despite disappointments, failures or hardships, OR, if lucky enough not to have personally experienced a hardship, must state how he/she has demonstrated compassion and support of those who have through their own actions, volunteerism or other activities.

Hughey family members attended Olean High School and this fund is established in the family honor and appreciation for the excellent education they received while also benefitting from a nurturing environment that supported their individuality. The family believes that resilience is often the difference between success and failure, between persevering and giving up. Resilience and hard work allow each person to make the most of their given skills and talents.

Hughey Scholarship Fund - This scholarship provides a scholarship for graduating seniors at Ellicottville High School for a student attending a 2- or 4-year college/university or a trade school. There will be a preference for a student majoring in the field of education, but the scholarship is open to all majors.

Elisa B. Hughey Memorial Scholarship for the Arts - Supports two annual scholarships — one each for Ellicottville and West Valley Central high schools - for college-bound students committed to advancing their skills in any aspect of the fine arts (including but not limited to sculpture, painting, drawing, watercolor, graphics, animation, architecture, interior design and photography). Second preference will be given to students pursuing performing arts fields (including but not limited to acting/theater, dance, music - instrumental or vocal, musical theater).

Students applying should complete the CRCF common application and also upload the following: artist’s statement and digital art portfolio of 6 to 8 pieces for fine arts or a sample performance piece for performing arts. One of the reference letters must be from an arts teacher. The number and size of the scholarship awards annually will be based on the amount available in the spendable portion of the scholarship sub-fund each year.

Robert E. Hull VMD Memorial Scholarship - This scholarship is for students who demonstrate a financial need, academic success (minimum GPA 3.0 (B) or better), and who intend to pursue a degree at a 2- or 4-year college in a field of the sciences, but other majors may be considered. Preference will be given first to minorities graduating from Olean High School (Dr. Hull's alma mater) and if no applicants meet that criteria, the second preference will be for girls graduating from Olean High School. Second preference will be for students graduating from any high school in Cattaraugus County meeting the above criteria.

Anthony and Gayle Iacovino Legacy Scholarship Fund - Originally established in memory of Anthony “Tony” Iacovino in 2015, a former long-time Olean High School educator and coach, by his sons. A passionate teacher and coach, for more than 30 years Tony inspired young people with lessons in American history in the classroom and led his teams to many victories on the basketball court and the baseball diamond.

In 2018, Mr. Iacovino’s wife, Gayle, an Olean native and graduate of Olean High School, passed away, and the fund was renamed to honor the couple’s shared dedication to supporting students in their educational goals. The two were married for 63 years. Gayle is remembered as an exceptional seamstress, a championship golfer and a wonderful and loving mother and wife.

This fund makes possible an annual scholarship for a student at Olean High School, with a preference for a student who excels in the classroom and also is active in extracurricular activities and community service. 

Mohammad and Sakeena Iqbal Health Care/Education Award - Scholarship ( 1 or 2 awards) is for seniors graduating from Allegany-Limestone High School, ranked in the top 25 percent of the class, and intending to pursue a bachelor’s degree in the health care field or education. Funded by Drs. Ahmad and Naheed Hilal Family Fund in memory of Dr. Naheed Hilal’s parents.

Paul and Mary Janowicz Memorial Scholarship - An award for a graduating senior from Ellicottville Central School who plans to attend a 2- or 4-year college and who demonstrates academic excellence and financial need. Established by their daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Paul Hanson of Olean.

JF20 Scholarship - This scholarship provides an award to a graduating Olean High School senior who participated on a varsity sports team, with first preference for a letter winner in football. The recipient may be attending a 2- or 4-year college. Academic success and financial need will be considered. Julio Fuentes, a former Olean High School football star, established the scholarship.

Signe, Svenborg, Agnes and Selma Johnson Scholarship - An award for an Olean High School senior who demonstrates financial need. Preference for a student pursuing a degree in teaching or who has strong educational/career goals. Established through the living trust of Signe H. Johnson, a former Portville and Olean high school teacher. Her sisters, Svenborg, Agnes and Selma, also taught at Olean High School.

Signe H. Johnson Scholarship - An award for a Portville Central School senior who demonstrates financial need. Preference for a student pursuing a degree in teaching or who has strong educational/career goals. Established through the living trust of Signe H. Johnson, a former Portville and Olean high school teacher.

Dennis Jones and Wayne Johnston Memorial Dice Run Scholarship - This scholarship is for a graduating senior from either Olean High School or Archbishop Walsh Academy who will be attending a 4-year college, with prefernce for a student planning to study business or business related field (i.e. accounting, finance, marketing, economics etc.) who demonstrates a good academic record.

Kathy Jowsey Spirit Memorial Scholarship - This scholarship, made in memory of Kathy Jowsey, is for graduates of Ten Broeck Academy/Franklinville High School who demonstrate financial need, have worked hard academically, and exemplify school spirit through extracurricular activities, sports and/or volunteerism. Preference is for a student majoring in business, accounting, sports management or journalism. This scholarship award is a minimum of $1,000 annually.

Kothari Family Fund Health Care Scholarship - Two  scholarships for students pursuing a health-care related degree. One award is for Allegany-Limestone High School students, and one award is for students attending high school in Cattaraugus County or McKean County (PA) . Established by Drs. Ashok and Yogini Kothari as part of the Kothari Family Endowed Fund.

Deputy Wayne Krieger Scholarship and Carol Krieger Memorial Scholarship - One award is available to any high school graduating student studying criminal justice from Cattaraugus County or Allegany Countiy, with a preference for a student who is/was a BOCES criminal justice student. One award is available to a JCC Sheriff's Academy student from either Allegany or Cattaraugus county enrolled in the criminal justice academy. Established in memory of sheriff’s deputy Wayne Krieger by his family. The name of the scholarship was changed in 2019 to also honor Mr. Krieger's wife, Carol Krieger, who passed away January 10, 2019.

Leadership Cattaraugus Scholarship Fund - This scholarship, established by the Leadership Cattaraugus board of directors, provides covering the lesser part of 25% of program tuition, up to $400, to deserving applicants to participate in the Leadership Cattaraugus program. The number and amount of awards may vary based upon the strength of applicants and availability of funding. Applicants must live in and/or work in Cattaraugus County and be employed by a small (fewer than 100 employees) government entity, nonprofit or small business independently owned and operated in Cattaraugus County. Applicants will be judged by a criteria including, but not limited to the following:

  • Engages in or expresses willingness to engage in community service activities (volunteerism, community campaigns, service on a board, etc.)

Long/Vossler Scholarship Fund - This scholarship is for graduates of Allegany-Limestone Central School who attend St. Bonaventure University. There is a preference for a major in education or business, but it is open to any major.

Kathleen Loop Snyder Memorial Scholarship - This scholarship, in memory of Kathleen Loop Snyder, is for a student graduating from the Smethport Area School District (or if that district merges in the future, for a student who resides in the borough and townships that comprised the Smethport Area School District as of this date). Preference is for a student pursuing post-secondary education in a career/vo-tech field. Financial need will be considered. The size and number of awards will depend on the annual distribution amount available.

Rebekah Love Family Scholarship - This scholarship, established in honor of Rebekah Love, is for a graduating student of Franklinville Central School who has demonstrated academic success and is pursuing a post-secondary degree (2- or 4-year school). Preference will be given to students pursuing a degree in an education- or nursing-related field of study. Preference will also be given to a student who has faced adversity and persevered with a positive attitude. Financial need may be considered.

Louis “Louie” Magnano Scholarship - This scholarship is named in memory of Louis A. “Louie” Magnano, an Olean businessman and philanthropist who dedicated his life to building a better Olean. His business enterprises included Blue Bird Coach Lines and Park Centre Development. His community support is legendary and includes landmark contributions to Olean General Hospital, Olean Skateboard Park, the William O. Smith Recreation Center, St. Bonaventure University, Jamestown Community College, the Rehabilitation Center, and more. This scholarship is dedicated to his memory and legacy. Criteria and first award date TBA.

James A. and Joan E. Maguire Family Scholarship Fund - The James A. and Joan E. Maguire Family Scholarship Fund provides scholarships to local high school students graduating from Olean, Allegany-Limestone, Belfast Central High School or Archbishop Walsh Academy. Preference is for a hard-working student who shows potential and perseverance, but are not necessarily among the top of their class. Special consideration is given to students who have faced a learning challenge. Financial need is considered.

Terrence and Judith Mark Scholarship Fund - This fund was established to fund scholarships for students graduating from Franklinville Central School/Ten Broeck Academy who will be attending a 2- or 4-year college. Students must have an overall GPA of 80% or higher and an overall GPA of 85% or higher in English. Financial need may be considered. Students must be in good academic standing and have participated in a minimum of 2 extracurricular activities. Students must also provide 2 references letters with one specifically from an English teacher and one from a social studies teacher.

Louis L. Marra Scholarship Fund - This scholarship, established in memory of Louis L. Marra, is for graduating seniors of Olean High School who have held a job during their high school career and demonstrate finanical need and academic success. 

Frank A. Martin III Memorial Scholarship Fund - This scholarship is for a graduating Allegany-Limestone Central School senior planning to attend a 4- or 2-year college who participated in a  sport. Recipients must be in high academic standing (at least a 3.0 GPA) and demonstrate strong community service. Established in memory of Frank A. Martin III, a longtime teacher and coach at Allegany-Limestone Central School.

Maryetta’s Mission Scholarship Fund - This scholarship is  awarded to students who are entering or currently in a post-secondary program for Christian-based ministerial studies – this would include majors or fields of study such as including theology, music liturgy, youth development, Christian administration, etc.
Must be a resident of Western Pennsylvania or Western New York. Student must submit transcript from their first semester or fall semester of study and must have at least a 2.5 GPA. The scholarship will then be awarded for the second semester. The amount of the award varies. Established by Maryetta’s Mission c/o of the First Church of Good of Eldred, PA.

Daniel and Patrick McCarthy Scholarship - Available to students pursuing undergraduate business studies. Award amount varies and awardees may reapply. Given through the generosity of the Catherine M. Cridler Trust and named in honor of Daniel McCarthy, one of the founders of Olean Business Institute.

Patricia McCarthy Memorial Scholarship - This award is available to Allegany-Limestone Central School and Olean High School graduating seniors accepted to either a 2- or 4-year college, in good academic standing. The preferred candidate will demonstrate entrepreneurial spirit and have a strong record of service to others as well as extracurricular involvement. Demonstrated financial need is preferred but not required. Established by Michael Wittmeyer in memory of his nanny for 18 years, Patricia McCarthy.

Bob and Barbara McCord Scholarship - Scholarships are awarded to graduates of Otto-Eldred (PA) High School, with a preference for students attending post-secondary institutions (can be 1-, 2- or 4-year institutions) in the career/technical fields. Students should be in good academic standing, be involved in extracurricular activities (sports, music, etc. and demonstrate financial need. The award amount will vary. Students receiving an award can re-apply. The scholarship is named in honor of Bob and Barbara McCord, both graduates of Otto (PA) High School. Bob served at 27 years in the U.S. Air Force and Barbara worked as a secretary at many of the bases Bob was stationed. Established through the Bob and Barbara McCord Private Foundation, the scholarship carries on the McCord foundation’s goal of helping others achieve their educational goals.

Bob and Barbara McCord and Jack Karl Scholarship - Scholarships are available to veterans or their dependents, preferably residents/graduates of either OEHS or a school in Cattaraugus County. Students should be in good academic standing, be involved in extracurricular activities (sports, music, etc.) and demonstrate financial need. The award amount will vary. Students receiving an award can re-apply.

This scholarship honors Jack Karl, a member of the US Army 5th Mechanic Division on DMZ and 1st Air Cavalry Division 5th Infantry in Vietnam. Karl also worked at Dresser Industries for 34 years and served 13 years on the Allegany School District Board of Education.

Pat McGee Nursing Scholarship - Two awards (amount varies) are given each year to students, traditional or nontraditional, in the 57th State Senate district (which includes much of Allegany, Cattaraugus and Chautauqua counties) who are pursuing nursing degrees. Students must maintain at least a C average. Students previously receiving the award also can reapply. Established through the Pat McGee Endowment, this fund is named in memory of the former late New York State Senator representing the 57th district.

Arnold McHone Sr. Manufacturing Scholarship - This scholarship is for graduating seniors or graduates from any high school in Cattaraugus County pursuing a technical education at any post-secondary 1- or 2-year institution in any field related to manufacturing, such as machine technology and heavy equipment operation. Financial need will be considered. Established by Yvonne McHone in memory of her husband and founder of McHone Industries, Arnold McHone.

Sara Mollica Memorial Scholarship - Established in memory of Sara Mollica, this fund provides two scholarships each year, one for Allegany-Limestone Central School and one for Olean High School, to students pursing post-secondary education in a career/technical field or health care-related field of study.

John J. Murphy Family Scholarship - A $10,000 scholarship awarded over four years at $2,500 per year. Preference will be given for students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in nursing, engineering or business.  Selection criteria shall include scholastic achievement, school and community participation, demonstrated leadership potential and financial need.

First preference is given to graduating students from Olean, NY, area high schools which include Olean, Allegany-Limestone, Hinsdale and Portville schools and Archbishop Walsh Academy. Second preference is given to high schools in the following communities – Cattaraugus County: Salamanca, Franklinville, Ellicottville, Cattaraugus-Little Valley, West Valley, Randolph and Gowanda; Allegany County: Alfred-Almond, Belfast, Bolivar-Richburg, Cuba-Rushford, Friendship, Richburg, Scio and Wellsville; McKean County (PA): Otto-Eldred, Bradford, Port Allegany and Smethport; and Potter County (PA): Coudersport, Austin and Galeton. Preference also will be given to a student whose family members are employed by or have retired from Dresser-Rand in Olean, NY.

Named in honor of John J. “Jack” Murphy, Olean native and former CEO and Chairman of Dresser Industries, this scholarship was established initially through a grant from the Communities Foundation of Texas and is continued with donations from generous donors.

Brian O'Connell Sr. Memorial Scholarship - Established in memory of Dr. Brian O'Connell Sr., this fund will support an annual scholarship award. Dr. Brian O'Connell Sr. worked in the education field for 40 years. 37 of those years, he spent in the Olean City School District prior to retiring as principal of Ivers J. Norton Elementary School. This annual award will be given to a high school senior or graduate of Olean High School who will be attending or is currently enrolled in college. Students must be in good academic standing and be pursuing an education-related academic major. Financial need does not need to be demonstrated. The student will need to answer an essay question about their community service or involvement. The size the award will depend on the amount available from the annual distribution (plus any spendable when applicable). The first award will be given in 2023 and will be for $500.

Olean High School Alumni Association Scholarship Fund - This scholarship is restricted to graduating seniors of Olean High School attending a post-secondary institution -- can be a 1-, 2- or 4-year school. Financial need will be considered. Applications will be reviewed by the OHS Alumni Association scholarship committee.

OHS Class of 1961 Scholarship Fund - This scholarship is awarded to two graduating seniors or graduates from Olean High School, one female and one male, who have the top GPA in their math and science classes and who will be attending a four-year college/university in any major or field of study. If there is a tie in GPA, class rank determines the top student(s). No financial need requirement. Established by Duane A. Geuder, Olean High School class of 1961 alumnus, this fund also has been established  in honor of the members of Olean High School Class of 1961 and the fine teachers who provided the class their high school education, in particular Mr. Norm Utecht and Miss Mabel Wilson.

OHS Class of 1983 - This scholarship was created by the Olean High School Class of 1983 in memory of all of the deceased members of the class. The scholarship shall be awrded with first preference to a graduating high school senior who is a relative of a member of the Olean High School Class of 1983. Second preference is for a graduating Olean High School senior who has demonstrated financial need and was active in extracurricular activities or community organizations during high school and is attending college or a trade school upon graduation.

OHS Class of 1995 Scholarship - This scholarship was created by the OHS class of 1995 in the year of their 20th class reunion. This scholarship is awarded with first preference for any applicant that is a child of a deceased member of the OHS Class of 1995. Second preference is for any applicant graduating from OHS in good academic standing that demonstrates major financial need is active in community service and extracurricular activities.

Otto-Eldred Alumni Scholarship - A scholarship for a senior graduating from Otto-Eldred High School who has a GPA of at least 2.75 and has been accepted to an accredited 2-year or 4-year school. Preference is given to a student attending a 2-year college, but is also open to those attending a 4-year program. Established by the Otto/Otto-Eldred Alumni Association.

George and Marcia Pancio Scholarship Fund - Established by members of the Pancio family, this scholarship is for a grduating senior from Olean High School planning to study an education- or medical field-releated field of study.

Betty Pappas Scholarship Fund - For graduating seniors of Hinsdale Central School who have demonstrated outstanding service to Hinsdale Central School. Established through the estate of Betty Pappas.

Michele Krahe Peace Olean High School Scholarship - A scholarship for an Olean High senior with preference for a student pursuing an accounting or business degree. Established in Michele’s memory by her parents, David and Irene Krahe.

Nicolas G. Pendl Memorial Scholarship - This scholarship is for a graduating senior from Allegany-Limestone Central School in good academic standing who intends to pursue a 2- or 4-year degree in environmental science or other science-related field. Established in memory of Nicolas Pendl, a 2013 graduate of Allegany-Limestone Central School, by Peter, Mary and Bethany Pendl; the Pendl and Potter families; the Allegany Engine Company; and friends of Nicolas.

Josephine S. Pepper Memorial Agriculture Scholarship - A scholarship of the Ten Broeck Academy and Franklinville Central School District Fund, this scholarship is for students who have completed at least three units of agriculture, have been a FFA member for at least two years and have been accepted into an agricultural institution. Number of awards and amounts will vary.

Eric Peters Memorial Scholarship Fund - Established in memory of Eric Peters, a former student at Cattaraugus-Little Valley High School who died June 4, 2010, this scholarship is for a graduating senior from Cattaraugus-Little Valley High School, with a preference for a student who is also a member of the Little Valley United Methodist Church.

Portville College Scholarships - Available to graduating seniors from Portville Central School who have volunteered for the school store or annual Portville College Scholarships phonathon fundraiser. Award amount varies. Established by Portville College Scholarships.

Mark J. Prockton Memorial Scholarship - A scholarship for graduating a senior from Hamburg High School who has lettered in cross country and has the highest GPA. Established in memory of Mark J. Prockton, a former New York City School teacher, Hamburg High School alumnus and runner, by his brothers, Gregg and Mike Prockton.

Ratana Ratanawongsa Scholarship - Available to students in the Allegany-Limestone School District in grades 7-10 for enrichment programs during the school year or summer programs following completion of grades 7-10. Established in memory of Dr. Ratanawongsa by her family.

OHS Walter L. Reisner Unsung Lineman Award - This scholarship, established through the Walt and Ruth Reisner Endowment Fund, is awarded to a deserving unsung OHS lineman each year. The recipient is chosen by the Olean High School Varsity Football coach. This scholarship memorializes Walter Lewis Reisner, who starred as quarterback at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA. Reisner was a respected alumnus of Muhlenberg, receiving the college’s first Alumni Achievement Award.

Marjorie and Robert Schaumleffel Rotary Scholarship - This scholarship, in memory of Robert and Marjorie Schaumleffel, is for a graduating senior of Olean, Portville, Archbishop Walsh, or Allegany-Limestone who is an active member of of the Rotary Interact Club. Applicants must include an essay about the meaning of "service above self."

Ginger D. Schroder Legislative District 3 Scholarship - The Ginger D. Schroder Legislative District 3 Scholarship is given to a graduating high school student residing in Cattaraugus County Legislative District 3 who will pursue a trade degree or 2-or 4-year college degree.

William H. Schwier Memorial Scholarship - A scholarship of the Ten Broeck Academy and Franklinville Central School District Fund, this award is for graduates planning to enter a teaching profession. The award is payable at the end of a student’s first semester upon submission of his/her transcript.

Ben & Rose Schwabenbauer Educational  Scholarship - Two awards for graduating seniors from either Olean High School, Otto-Eldred High School, or Bradford Area High School and one award for Portville Central School who will be attending a 4-year college. Preference for a student majoring in elementary education, any education field or criminal justice or law enforcement-related field, who has a grade point average of 3.5 or higher and/or is in top 25 percent of the graduating class, demonstrates financial need and has a record of community volunteerism. Established by Ben and Rose Schwabenbauer, former long-time teachers in the Olean City School District.

Mary-Elizabeth Smith Scholarship - This award is available to a graduating Olean High School senior who is attending college. Financial need will be considered. The award amount varies. Established by the estate of Mary-Elizabeth Smith as part of the Olean City School District Scholarship Fund.

Patrick Shinners Memorial Team Player Scholarship - This scholarship is available to players in Cattaraugus and Chautauqua counties who are a graduating senior and participated in football for at least one school year. The athlete will have demonstrated proficiency/competency in: extracurricular activities, community involvement, citizenship and team participation. The ideal candidate will be a player who was there for the team; a player who was not the team hero, but who came to practice knowing that he may not be in the game on Friday night. The scholarship is not restricted to those planning to attend an institution of higher education after graduation; nominations of those entering the armed forces or pursuing technical trades are also encouraged.

The award will be given as a scholarship or educational stipend that can be used toward college, trade or technical school or job-related expenses such as uniforms or equipment or travel costs if entering the military. A committee of the Southwestern Chapter of the New York State Association of Certified Football Officials will select the recipient(s) who have completed the applications from coaches.

Thomas & Robert Smythe Scholarship - A $2,500 award available to Olean High School graduating seniors pursuing a nursing degree. Awardees must agree to a three-year work commitment to Olean General Hospital upon graduation and may reapply for second year. Established as part of the Olean City School District Scholarship Fund through the estate of Phyllis G. Cridler Family Trust, named in memory of Mrs. Cridler’s sons, Thomas and Robert.

Southern Tier Military Support Group Scholarship - An award available to area military veterans attending Jamestown Community College in Olean. Gregory D. Spring Perseverance Scholarship and Awards Fund - Established in memory of Gregory D. Spring, this scholarship will be for a graduating senior from Allegany-Limestone Central School, Ellicottville, Franklinville/Ten Broeck Academy Portville Central School, Hinsdale Central School and/or Olean High School with preference for a student who intends to pursue a degree or certification in a trade or technical program (ex. welding, criminal justice, construction-related fields, etc.). This is a one time award. The number and amount of the awards may vary from year to year. The annual distribution from this fund also will pay for the purchase of award plaques (2 per year) to be given to the players that exemplify sportsmanship at the annual Allegany-Limestone Central School Gator Cup soccer tournament.

Carroll Swanson Memorial Fund for the Performing Arts - This fund was established to provide a scholarship for a student at the following schools: Allegany-Limestone, Olean and Portville who has participated in a school music program (band or choral).

Eva M. Taggerty Memorial Scholarship Fund - Established in memory of Eva Taggerty by her daughter, Beth Taggerty, this fund provides an annual scholarship for graduating seniors of Portville Central School who plan to seek a two- or four-year degree in a construction industry-related career/technical field. Preference is given to female students, students who have attended BOCES or students who are planning to attend Alfred State College.

Applicants must include in their goal statement why they have a passion for their chosen career/degree choice. Applicants should demonstrate academic promise and be involved in extracurricular activities at school or in the community. Applicants must also display good citizenship and morale character and kindness toward others. They also should display a positive attitude and possess leadership abilities. Eva passed away in July of 2018 after battling cancer. She worked in the construction industry as a sales rep at Olean Lumber and Close’s Lumber in Olean for a number of years.

Bernadette E. “Bernie” Taylor Memorial Scholarship - This scholarship is for a graduating student of any high school in Cattaraugus or Allegany counties, with first preference for a student who plans to major in education, particularly in math or science fields; nursing; or a health-care field. Second preference is for a high school student graduating from any high school in Cattaraugus or Allegany counties who will be attending St. Bonaventure University and entering the ROTC program. Students graduating from Allegany-Limestone Central School also will be given preference. Students must be in good academic standing. Financial need will be considered, but is not the only factor. The Taylor family established this scholarship in memory of Bernie who taught chemistry at Bradford Area High School, then Allegany High School and Allegany-Limestone Central School for over 30 years.

Jonathan Teuscher Scholarship - Awarded to a graduate who has faced challenges while maintaining a positive attitude. For each year of continued education, $625 is given for a total of up to $2,500 over 4 years. One scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior from each of the following high schools: Allegany-Limestone, Hinsdale Central, Olean High, Portville Central and Archbishop Walsh Academy. Two Joes Scholarship Fund - This fund will support an annual scholarship in the name of community-minded businessmen Joe Sgro and Joe DeRose to support a scholarship award for a Cattaraugus County student interested in pursuing a degree in technology, marketing, communications, business or a related field.

Tracy Veno Memorial/Olean Professional Firefighters, Local 1796 Scholarship Fund - Established in memory of Tracy Veno, a former Olean firefighter and police officer, by Olean Professional Firefighters, Local 1796, IAFF, this scholarship is for graduating seniors of Olean High School (schools may be added as the fund grows), attending a 2- or 4-year institution, who has been involved in community service/volunteerism. First preference will be for a student interested in a career as a first responder (EMS, firefighting, criminal justice) or in a career/ vocational-technical field. Financial need will also be considered.

JoAnn Wehmeyer English Scholarship - A scholarship awarded to an Olean High School senior who intends to pursue a four-year degree, has excellent writing skills and has the potential to make a difference. Must include recommendation from English faculty. Established by former students in memory of Mrs.Wehmeyer, who taught English at Olean High School for 42 years.

Kayleigh Wilday Scholar Athlete Award - The Kaleigh Wilday Scholar Athlete Award is given to a deserving Cuba-Rushford senior athlete who is a member of scholar athlete teams during his/her senior year. The recipient is selected by the Cuba-Rushford Athletic Awards Committee. Award is made possible by the Kaleigh Wilday Endowment Fund established by Skip and Greta Wilday in memory of their daughter.

Paul and Mary Lou Wood Swim Scholarship - The fund provides scholarships to members of the men’s and women’s swim teams at St. Bonaventure University, with the award alternating between the men’s team and women’s team. The head men’s swim team coach and head women’s swim coach shall have the discretion in selecting the recipient each year depending on the rotation. CRCF will distribute the award amount to the St. Bonaventure athletic department. The recipient should have and maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0. The award amount is $10,000 a year, with students eligible to retain the award for four years. The scholarship is given to enhance the scholarship awards available for SBU swimmers. Established by Paul and Mary Lou Wood.

Dr. Donald A. Wormer Family Scholarship - The Dr. Donald A. Wormer Family Scholarship award is awarded to a Portville Central School senior/graduate planning to pursue his/her education at a four-year or two-year college in the medical/health care field. Applicants should demonstrate academic success and financial need. The first award(s) were made for the class of 2016. The number and amount of the awards may vary from year to year, and candidates may reapply. Scholarships will be available in perpetuity through the endowment.
