Three area graduates were recently awarded the Jonathan Teuscher Scholarship from the Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation.
Madison Honeck of Allegany-Limestone, Domonick Hirliman of Olean and Skielyn Spencer of Portville each received the award this year.
The Jonathan Teuscher Scholarship, established by Steve and Donna Teuscher in memory of their son, Jonathan, is given to students from Olean, Hinsdale, Portville, Allegany-Limestone and Archbishop Walsh, who have faced challenges while maintaining a positive attitude. The scholarship of $625 is renewable each year of continued education up to four years, for a total of $2,500.
Honeck plans to study diagnostic medical sonography at the Rochester Institute of Technology. Hirliman plans to study physical education at SUNY Brockport. Spencer plans to study mechanical engineering at Alfred State College.
Since it was established in 2000, the Jonathan Teuscher Scholarship has made possible over $203,000 in scholarship awards to area students.
