Cattaraugus-Little Valley graduates awarded Carroll, other scholarships

Five recent Cattaraugus-Little Valley Central School graduates were awarded scholarships from funds stewarded by the Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation.

Bransen Gabel, Damaris Lillie and Alexander Pietras were awarded the May C. Carroll Scholarship for $1,000.

The May C. Carroll Scholarship is given to a graduating senior who is a resident of Cattaraugus. Recipients must demonstrate academic promise and be active in extracurricular activities and community service. The scholarship was established at CRCF through the May C. Carroll Trust.

Gabel plans to attend SUNY Fredonia to study computer science. Lillie plans to attend St. Bonaventure University to study psychology. Pietras plans to attend SUNY Fredonia to study adolescent education.

Grady Merrill received the Eric Peters Memorial Scholarship, a $2,000 award.

Established in memory of former Cattaraugus-Little Valley Central School student Eric Peters, this scholarship is for graduating seniors of Cattaraugus-Little Valley Central School with a preference for a student who is also a member of Little Valley United Methodist Church.  

Merrill plans to attend the University at Buffalo to study civil engineering.

Rebekah Butcher received the Vincent C. Horth Memorial Scholarship for $400.

Established by the parents of Vincent Horth, this scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior from Cattaraugus-Little Valley Central School who plans to attend a post-secondary school with a preference for a student studying to be an electrician or auto mechanic.

Butcher plans to attend Hilbert College to study criminal justice.
