Eight area graduates recently received awards from scholarship funds that support students pursuing business-related degrees and are managed by the Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation.
Aidan DeFazio and Alexis Linn of Portville Central School, Jarrod Funk of Port Allegany Central School and Cooper Wilczewski of Allegany-Limestone Central School received the Daniel and Patrick McCarthy Scholarship for $950 each.
The scholarship, given through the generosity of the Catherine M. Cridler Trust, honors Daniel and Patrick McCarthy, two individuals instrumental in the success of the Olean Business Institute. The scholarship is available to graduating students in Cattaraugus County or McKean and Potter (PA) counties pursuing a business degree.
DeFazio plans to attend High Point University to study finance. Linn plans to attend Niagara University to study business management. Funk plans to attend Penn State University-Behrend to study finance. Wilczewski plans to attend Nazareth University to study business leadership and sports management.
Adrian Bohdanowycz and Viktoriia Lozynska of Olean High School, Austin Gloss of Cassadaga Valley Central School and Julia DeRose of Allegany-Limestone Central School received the Chautauqua Cattaraugus Board of Realtors Scholarship for $500 each.
The Board of Realtors Scholarship provides scholarships to students in good academic standing in Cattaraugus and Chautauqua counties. Preference is given to students pursuing a business-related degree.
Bohdanowycz plans to attend the University of Pittsburgh to study finance. Lozynska plans to attend Houghton University to study business. Gloss plans to attend SUNY Buffalo State University to study journalism. DeRose plans to attend Penn State University to study business administration.
