Five CRCF funds generate nearly $16,000 in grants in March

Five donor designated funds at the Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation have awarded gifts totaling $15,972 to area nonprofit organizations.

The donors who established these funds – Kay and Oliver Williams/Rushford Endowment Fund, Luella Potter Endowment Fund, Rev. Leo J. Gallina Endowment Fund for St. Bernard of Clairvaux Church, Jim and Gail Olson Mercy Flight Fund, Kaleigh Wilday Endowment Fund – designated organizations that were dear to them to receive annual grants from the funds.

The Kay and Olver Williams/Rushford Endowment Fund makes possible annual grants to seven organizations that support the identity and long history of the Rushford community.

This year’s grants included:

  • First Baptist Church - $1,169
  • Northern KonXions United Methodist Church - $1,169
  • Rushford Free Library - $1,169
  • Cuba-Rushford School District - $989
  • Podonque Cemetery - $989
  • Rushford Cemetery Association - $989
  • Rushford Concert Band - $989

The Luella Potter Endowment Fund provided a grant of $3,445 to Southern Tier Catholic School. The fund was named in honor of Luella Potter who taught at Southern Tier Catholic School for 39 years.

Since the inception of this fund, Southern Tier Catholic School has received over $59,000 in support.

The Rev. Leo J. Gallina Endowment Fund for St. Bernard of Clairvaux Church, established by Father Gallina, supports St. Bernard of Clairvaux Church, Bradford, Pa., including support of parishioners in need and its community outreach to help others. The grants for this year totals $2,434.

The Jim and Gail Olson Mercy Flight Fund made possible a grant of $1,625 to support the Olean Mercy Flight station. Mrs. Olson established the fund in 2013 to provide annual support for the Olean Mercy Flight hangar.

The Kaleigh Wilday Endowment Fund made a grant of $1,000 to the Jamestown Community College Foundation for the Kaleigh Wilday Scholarship.

“When these funds make their annual grant distributions, I’m reminded of the lasting impact of endowments,” said Kirk Windus, CRCF executive director. “Thanks to the generosity and foresight of donors, local organizations can count on meaningful, reliable support year after year.”
