Cattaraugus Gives, a day of giving for the Cattaraugus County region led by the Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation, is set to return in 2020.

Registration for this year is now open at cattaraugusgives.org

Cattaraugus Gives, which will be held on Tuesday, December 1, is a 24-hour online fundraising blitz, bringing together nonprofits from all over the region in friendly fundraising competition, with the overall goal of creating a more compassionate, giving community.

In 2019, 70 participating nonprofits together raised $110,996 from 841 donors. Area businesses and CRCF together sponsored over $12,000 in prize money for participating nonprofits.

Participation in the program is open to any 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization in Cattaraugus County and CRCF funds.

After the success of the program in 2019, CRCF is looking forward to seeing the continued growth of Cattaraugus Gives in 2020.

“We were blown away by the success of Cattaraugus Gives in 2020 as it exceeded any expectations we had when we began hosting the day of giving,” said CRCF Executive Director Karen Niemic Buchheit.

“In the midst of so many cancelled fundraisers and so much lost revenue for nonprofit organizations, rallying the community around a day of giving will be all the more important,” Buchheit said. “And that fact that this is virtual event is a big plus given current circumstances.

In addition to registration opening, CRCFwill offer a webinar, “Cattaraugus Gives by the Numbers: using the data to plan for giving day success,” to help participating nonprofits begin preparing for this year’s campaign.

There will be two sessions of the webinar: Monday, June 19, and Friday, June 26, both from Noon-1 p.m. To register for a session, please email Kirk Windus, CRCF communications and fund development manager at [email protected]. There will also be an invitation link shared at cattfoundation.org/cattaraugus-gives and cattaraugusgives.org/info/trainings.

CRCF will again be seeking sponsorships from businesses in the community to provide more prize opportunities. Businesses interested in sponsoring a prize can contact the Foundation at [email protected] or 716-301-2723.

“We believe Cattaraugus Gives is a special program, and after such a difficult few months we think it is important to begin working on something that brings the community together in such a positive way while maintaining social distancing practices,” said Buchheit. “We encourage any nonprofit in the region to register and be a part of rallying the community to continue making a big impact for those in need.”

Established in 1994, CRCF is growing good by connecting donors to the causes they care about most in the region. Grants from the foundation support many areas, including education, scholarships, health care, the arts, community development, human service, and youth development.
