The 4th annual Elisa’s Run for the Arts will be held virtually on June 13 at 10 a.m. to raise money for the Elisa Hughey Scholarship for the Arts at the Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation.

Elisa’s Run for the Arts was organized in memory of Hughey, a dedicated and talented artist, mother and wife who courageously battled cancer.

The fun run was originally slated to be held in the Village of Ellicottville, but the physical run has been cancelled due to safety concerns related to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

In lieu of an organized, physical race, the fun run will be held virtually to raise funds for the Elisa Hughey Scholarship for the Arts, which supports arts education and appreciation programming as well as an annual scholarship award for aspiring artists.

Participants are encouraged to participate in the event on a 5k hike, walk or run track of their choice. Participants may also don their favorite Elisa’s run t-shirt or hat and share photos and videos of their run/walk by tagging https://www.facebook.com/Elisasrun. Participants may also wear blue to promote colorectal cancer awareness.

Instead of a registration fee, walkers and runners are encouraged to donate to the Elisa Hughey Scholarship for the arts at: http://elisahugheyscholarship.com/donate/. Donations may also be mailed by check to CRCF at 301 North Union St., Suite 203.

“As disappointing as the cancellation is, we realize the safety issues and we are all familiar with postponements and cancellations lately during these times,” said Brenda Hughey, an annual run organizer. “We would like to invite all our supporters to remember our beloved Elisa — at a distance, yet together!”

Established in 1994, the Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation is growing good by connecting donors to the causes they care about most in the region.
